Licensure

Please be aware: CPE updates its forms as necessary.  If using pre-printed forms, please ensure you are working off the most current version.  (All current forms should include CPE's mailing address at 2800 E. St. Louis Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89104.)

License Evaluation Request

The Commission is the primary licensing body for postsecondary education within the state of Nevada. Licensure evaluation is required for any business that claims to provide postsecondary or pre-licensure training to individuals who are not direct employees.  Please provide as much detail as possible and submit document of any approvals/licensed issued from other entities. License evaluations require CPE to research the request prior to rendering a decision and therefore CPE can not provide a time estimate for completion. This notarized form and support documents must be submitted via mail.

CPE does not license Cosmetology, Barbering or Commercial Truck Driving, please click the link for these programs.  

Licensed School Year End Report 2023

Year End Reports are required for all licensed institutions pursuant to NRS 394.443. The report is available in Excel Format from this site. If the institution does not have access to Excel or is unable to download or open the document, please contact staff for alternatives. Instructions for the Year End Report is on the second tab of the excel file. Notices to complete the year end report will be included in the Quarterly notice.

Year End Reports for the time period of January 1, 2023 - December 31, 2023 were due on April 30, 2024. Institutions that failed to report or request an extension to file are required to pay a $250 fine.

Processing Times

CPE staff processes applications in the order in which they are received. We are currently experiencing high application volume, with the majority of submissions containing errors or being submitted while incomplete.  These continuing issues have increased processing times in all areas.

You may assist our office by:

  • Ensuring all staff and faculty backgrounds are current
  • Using updated forms.  (Please note, all application packets were last updated in October 2021.)  
  • Submitting documents by section versus submitting one, massive document (10 MB max per document)
  • Completing all fields on all forms
  • Reviewing the institutional catalog and enrollment agreements for changes effective October 1, 2025.

DO NOT submit documents via email.  CPE requires all electronic submissions to be made via the "portal," which checks all incoming documents for viruses.  Institutions may also elect to submit hard copy documents by mail to our office at 2800 E. St. Louis Avenue, Las Vegas, NV  89104.

Fingerprinting update

Effective January 1, 2025, the cost of the fingerprint based background checks  increased to $39.00. 

Effective June 2, 2020, federal requirements related to the Background Form (Form 40C) have changed and CPE will not accept earlier versions of the form for processing. The current form consists of two pages and both pages must be completed for the form to be considered valid. Please contact CPE staff with any questions you may have about Form 40C.
